Daal Roti celebrates their 7th anniversary

Daal Roti, located on the north east corner of Watline and Hurontario, next to the Highland Farms grocery store, is truly a hidden gem in Mississauga. It's located in a small office tower on the main floor and you'd be forgiven if you've driven by it several times without noticing it's there. Yes, there's signage outside but due to the heavy traffic on Hurontario, it's one of those "blink and you'll miss it" kinda joints.
Yes, they've been there for seven years and recently, more and more new patrons are walking through the doors.

Daal Roti recently celebrated their 7th anniversary and Modern Mississauga was able to experience a sampling of their delicious menu.

Here’s how they describe themselves:
“Daal Roti is committed to serving the very best in Indian cuisine. Featuring only the finest, freshest ingredients, each dish is delicately prepared to highlight the robust flavours of the Bombay region. Our executive chef has worked in some of India’s most prestigious kitchens and is incredibly passionate about providing authentic, delicious, and beautiful fare. He is constantly working to create new, inspiring flavours, and we invite you in to discover them. Make your next meal a memorable one; indulge in Daal Roti’s traditionally inspired, modern take on a warm and welcoming Indian menu.”

That pretty much sums it up. The food that was served was full of flavours and presented beautifully.
The team was friendly and informative for any questions we had about the menu.
As someone who’s eaten more than their fair share of Indian food, I was impressed with the colourful dishes, the attention to detail and the simple yet authentic flavours of India.

Chef Hitesh Rana’s passion for cuisine began early at Rizvi College where he studied hotel management and was often exposed to the vibrant world of bustling kitchens and fragrant Indian fare. Chef Rana has worked in several 5-Star establishments under some of his country’s finest culinary artists. A stint at The Ambassador Hotel in Mumbai helped the chef gain the culinary skill, flavor building expertise, and business acumen to work with a team from The Mars group to open “Sachins” a restaurant dedicated to Sir Sachin Tendulkar of Indian Cricket fame. In 2006 he brought his passion for beautifully prepared, high-quality, haute Indian cuisine to Canada, and has received much praise for its elegant, spicy yet luscious flavors and presentation, according to their website, www.daalroti.ca

Some of the dishes we sampled included a delicious chicken khuschan taco, rajasthani aloo, chicken four square (a variety of four unique tikka chicken flavours), goat curry and paneer tikka masala.

The dining room seats just over 65 and the ambiance in this quaint restaurant is warm and inviting.
Daal Roti is owned by Chef Rana and his wife, Payal and their dedication to customer service is clearly shown through the excellent front of house service we received throughout the evening.

A mango and coconut lassi were the popular drinks of the night as we were joined by a few other friends to experience and enjoy the creative menu that Daal Roti offers.

They offer a lunch buffet and hours are as follows:

Tuesday to Sunday 11:45am - 2:45pm
Tuesday to Friday 5:00pm - 9:45pm
Saturday & Sunday 5:00pm - 10:30pm
They’re closed on Monday

If you’re looking for remarkable, high quality Indian food at an affordable price, visit Daal Roti’s charming dining room for a great meal.
