Almost like clockwork, the first weekend in June sees the ever-popular and fun-for-all Streetsville Founders’ Bread and Honey Festival occur. If you’ve attended, you know how exciting this festival is. If you haven’t made it out yet, this year is a great one to start attending. There’s bread, honey, entertainment, rides and a ton of other family friendly attractions to experience, including the ever-popular Bread and Honey Parade.

The gal behind the scenes is Sandra “works at least 25 hours a day” Pitts, who quarterbacks the operation, along with a stellar leadership team and an army of volunteers.
We sat down with her for a coffee at Kate’s Bakery to chat about the festival and she generously shared seven cool facts that most folks may not know about the festival:

  1. Now in its 44th year, The Bread and Honey Festival is the second longest and largest running festival in all of Ontario!

  2. The Bread and Honey Festival is held at Streetsville Memorial Park. Obvious, right?
What you may not know is that the park is a natural amphitheatre situated on a whopping 30 acres overlooking the picturesque Credit River.

The main stage, children's stage and a community stage are wonderful platforms full of local talent that are filled with remarkable talent.
