Fashion Friday: Summer clothing trends for 2016
Are you wondering what's hot (besides the weather) this season? Have you noticed some controversial trends while you were out and about, and thought to yourself, "is this person crazy or just crazy fashionable?" Modern Mississauga has you covered with what's new, what's out, and what's back in style.
Summer 2016 is all about prints. Floral, ethnic, striped - it doesn’t matter, as long as it’s on your body. Colours and patterns are heavily Cuban influenced, and dress trends are rewinding way back to Victorian inspired pieces, and relying heavily on ruffled garments and the notorious cold-shoulder.
Solids are out - if it’s not printed or patterned, it’s white. White jeans, culottes, shorts, shirt dresses, anything. White pieces can be paired together, or with this season’s bold colours, focusing on green and orange—and maybe a hint of grey and navy just to bring your eye-catching outfits together.
Designers this season are choosing many of the go-to styles we saw in the spring 2016 collections. Culottes, distressed denim, bright shorts, jumpers and rompers, are all back, with the addition of a few new choice trends. Lace and satin slips are no longer just for the bedroom, meggings (man leggings) have made their way into summer fashion, and anoraks are a must-have, especially for the summer-to-fall transition.
