Learn about the inaugural Canadian International Faith & Family Film Festival

At a time when the world has it’s eyes on TIFF, the inaugural Canadian International Faith & Family Film Festival (CIFF) is taking place on September 16th and 17th at Innis College | University of Toronto. CIFF is thrilled to announce it’s screenings and nominations from 108 submissions, 50 selections to 30 nominations that will be screened.
Co-founded by Mississauga resident Rafael Kalamat and Jason Barbeck, this is set to be an exciting event.
Categories include Features, Documentaries, Shorts, Animation, Music Videos, Screenplays & New Media. Entries received were from 11 countries, including Canada, United States, South Africa, Australia and Poland. The festival will include the Canadian Red Carpet Premiere of Kevin Sorbo’s directorial debut of “Let there be light” followed by an award gala on Sunday at 6pm.
Notable mentions include Oscar winner Roger Christian with direction in “Joseph & Mary”. International spotlight on Oliver Stone’s son Sean Stone in “Union Bound”, documentary “The Sultan and The Saint” featuring Jeremy Irons, John Rhys Davies and Stephen Baldwin in “Peter: The Redemption” and Eric Roberts in “Unbridled”
*Not to be missed Canadian performances in films by Kris Holden-Reid, Kyle Schmid, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Luke Bilyk, Philip Moran, Nick Mancuso, Art Hindle, Frank Chiesurin, Zoe De Grand Maison, Brittany Bristow and Steven McCarthy. Notable Canadian films include Adams Testament, Samuel, Ice Dragon, The Masked Saint, Saul: Journey to Damascus and Luther.
Over the last six months festival directors and co-founders Rafael Kalamat and Jason Barbeck noted that the feedback from the faith-based film industry indicated that “CIFF is the fastest growing film fest of it’s kind in the world.” With a mandate to inspire and show stories of redemption and courage, “we are changing the world one film at a time, as many of these films never get a chance at a theatrical release.”
