Scrabble Sunday - A through F

In an on-going series looking at unique words in the English language, Scrabble Sunday's is here to help you learn new words and look like a pro when playing this classic game.

Have you been in the midst of a game of Scrabble looked down at your letters then at the board, wishing you knew more weird words? Not to worry, friends...I've go you covered!
Here are six unique words that you can play, starting with the letters A through F:

AA
Yes that is a word, it’s actually the very first word in the Oxford English Dictionary.  AA is a type of volcanic lava that forms jagged masses with a light frothy texture.
Keep that in mind next time you have double A’s.

Bezoar
Trying to find a letter with a Z right in the middle is always tricky, so if you’re stuck see if you have the right letters for this strange word.
Bezoar is a small hard, solid mass which may form in the stomachs of goats and sheep, yum.

Chad
Apologies to anyone named Chad, as their name has a meaning all to itself. A chad is actually a piece of wastepaper produced by punching a hole in it; a chad is literally purposefully created waste.
Thinking of all the Chads I’ve known in my life, this is remarkably accurate.

Deipnosophist
Guaranteed a double word score with this doozy of a word! Deipnosophist is a person who is skilled in the art of dining and dinner-table conversation.
I would like to think of myself as a deipnosophist, however I think some of my friends would argue differently.

Erf
You can never have enough three letter words in you repertoire when it comes to scrabble, add erf to your collection. Simple and to the point, plus you always have a pesky E or F lying around. Erf is by definition, a small plot of land, just in case someone doesn’t believe you.

Floccinaucinihilipilification
Drop the mic and walk away if you manage to play this word, it is as long as it is hard to pronounce.  They actually have YouTube videos teaching you the correct way to say weird words, so make sure you search this one. Floccinaucinihilipilification is the action or habit of estimating something as worthless. Oxford would like to make the distinction that this word is rarely used in conversation, shocking.
(Spoiler alert - you'll never be able to play this word...sorry, friends)

There you have it, six strange yet handy scrabble words. Stay tuned for when we start on the G’s!
