Your guide on how to celebrate Canada Day 2018 in Mississauga
It’s officially summer and Canada Day festivities in our beautiful city are around the corner! For Canadians, this holiday represents much more than just another long weekend. Instead, it epitomizes the pride all Canadians feel to be able to call our wonderful country home.
If you’re looking for ways to celebrate your patriotism this July 1st, here’s a list of six wonderful (and free!) events happening across Mississauga for Canada Day 2018!
When holding these activities to celebrate the festival, many organizations will also prepare some customized promotional gifts, such as the customized pin, T-shirts, hats, etc., to distribute to those who participate in the activities, so as to promote the activities as well as strengthen the relationship with the community.
Canada Day Together Festival
Coming together for their third year, the Churchill Meadows community is putting on their very own ‘Canada Day Together Festival’ starting from 4:00 p.m. at 3340 McDowell Drive this July 1st. The event will feature lots of entertainment and activities that people of all ages will enjoy as well as a dazzling fireworks display to end the night at 10:00 p.m. Some of the most anticipated activities include: the Gaming RV, HUNT by PHONE Scavenger Hunt and The Kids Zone. To end the night, this year’s headliner, who will perform at 9:00 p.m. right before the fireworks, is Fefe Dobson - award-winning singer, songwriter and actress who is most well-known for her hit songs “Can’t Breathe”, “Stutterin’” and “Ghosts”!

The Living Arts Centre
Beginning at 12:00 p.m., the Living Arts Centre is presenting a Canada Day celebration specifically focusing on the joy of play! Featuring many different arts and crafts (including glass blowing and painting artist demonstrations!), games and sports, this event promises to be a fun-filled day for kids and adults alike!
They've got life-sized Jenga, Connect Four and Tic Tac Toe and you can even try your luck with Carrom – a popular South Asian board game.
On the sports side, you can engage with Indigenous games with Dallas Squire, Kana:ta Village and even play Cricket with the Mississauga Cricket League!
If you're looking to kick back, relax on their outdoor patio and enjoy some light refreshments.
To continue celebrating Canada Day, the Living Arts Centre will also feature dance performances by Frog in Hand (12:30 p.m. at the RBC Theatre) and Sampradaya Dance Creations (3:00 p.m. at the RBC Theatre) as well as amazing musical guests including: The Mississauga Children’s Choir, Nikki Shawana, Souls of Steel Orchestra and many more throughout the event.

Malton Celebrates Canada Day
Another strong community initiative put forth by Ward 5's dedicated and hardworking Councillor Carolyn Parrish, this festival is promising to have the best fireworks in the city!
Beginning at 2:00 p.m. and going until 10:00 p.m., the festival will include an 80 foot tall T-Rex hot air balloon that is sure to impress, electric train rides, several spectacular performances and more! Join the fun this year at Westwood Square of Westwood Mall (which is located at 7205 Goreway Drive) for a wonderful Canadian celebration that will make you fall in love with Canada even more!

Celebration Square
The Canada Day celebrations at Celebration Square are always exciting and extravagant- and this year’s is no different. Starting at 2:00 p.m. and going until 10:30 p.m., one can expect to enjoy a variety of performances and activities that will keep you entertained all night long! With fireworks following performances from artists such as MAGIC! (best-known for their worldwide hit ‘Rude’), Allie X and Juno-winning William Prince, this event will definitely be one to remember! Also, be sure to check out all the family-friendly activities happening at Camp Canuck from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., including: a chance to explore a Fire Vintage Fire Truck, a poster making workshop at the Art Gallery of Mississauga, face painting as well as arts and crafts in the Great Hall and much more! Additionally, the event encourages everyone to join Mayor Bonnie Crombie for a special moment by participating in the Canadian Citizenship reaffirmation oath during the Official Ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

Port Credit's Paint The Town Red
There's certainly an exciting feel by celebrating Canada Day at Port Credit's Paint The Town Red's festival. Celebrating their 15th year anniversary, this year is sure to be extra exciting as they invite you to help them paint the town red! From events like the Hazel McCallion Canada Day Parade at 11:00 a.m. to the free activities at KIDZONE starting at 1:00 p.m. and the fireworks ceremony at 10:00 p.m., this celebration is sure to be entertaining.
Additionally, further entertainment will be provided before the fireworks by the likes of the Mississauga Pops Orchestra, Melle Rose, Spoons and many others!

Streetsville Canada Day Celebration
The , ‘Village in the City’ will be hosting their own Canada Day celebrations this year. The festival, starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 10:30 p.m., will feature a Rotary BBQ, lots of live entertainment, raffles, tons of crafts, games, activities and more fun stuff for kids. Before heading to Memorial Park to catch all the live entertainment, make sure to join the Streetsville community for their official Canada Day Opening Ceremonies; complete with Cake Cutting and the Flag Raising Ceremony on the Village Square. Additionally, this year’s spectacular fireworks show will be set to the soundtrack of The Tragically Hip’s biggest hits as a tribute to the band’s late lead singer, Gord Downie.
