Mississauga's famous Southside Shuffle celebrates its 20th anniversary
This September 7- 9, the famous Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle Port Credit Blues & Jazz Festival marks its 20th anniversary, fresh off being awarded “Mississauga’s Best Festival” for 2018.
The festival features hundreds of musicians and this year, includes Coco Montoya, Juno winner Sue Foley, blues rock pioneers Savoy Brown and many others.
Previous Shuffle performers included Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, The Funk Brothers, David Clayton-Thomas, Ronnie Hawkins, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Johnny Winter
“We’ve brought in some of the top blues players from around the world and support the great young and new Canadian talent. We started with four bands and 2,300 people over two days; now we have close to 150 bands” says founder Chuck Jackson.
The Rabba Fine Foods Street Shuffle presents plenty of free outdoor stages along Lakeshore from noon to 4 p.m.on Saturday the 8th. There’s a “Junior Jam”, “Harps For Kids” workshop, clothing and craft booths in the vendor’s village, and a mouthwatering food court.
The over 300 volunteers really do make this event a continuous success and encompasses a true community-first spirit.
Billed as “Mississauga’s Musical Mardi Gras”, the Shuffle has made Mississauga a premier event destination, attracting guests world-wide.
