La Bohème is one of opera’s most popular and unforgettable stories. When young poet Rodolfo meets seamstress Mimì, it is love at first sight. But, faced with the cruel realities of poverty and ill health, will the flame that burns between them flicker and die, or will the timeless strength of their youthful passion withstand every trial and tribulation that life can throw at them? La Bohème has all the ingredients of the perfect introduction to opera. It features soaring tunes, accessible characters, passion, romance, and a dash of customary tragedy. La Bohème’s simplicity and undeniable beauty has seen Puccini’s perennial crowd pleaser become one of the most frequently performed operas in the world.

Starring as Rodolfo is MSO favourite, Romulo Delgado. Delgado is a classically trained tenor and a world music multi-instrumentalist. He was a region finalist at the Hans Gabor Belvedere International Opera competition in Vienna, Austria and trained in Toronto at the Royal Conservatory Music. Romulo's versatility as a performer has enchanted audiences all over North America and Europe. His operatic roles currently include Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, Don Jose in Bizet’s Carmen, The Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Idomeneo in Mozart’s Idomeneo, Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca, Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme and Riccardo in the Canadian premiere of Verdi’s Oberto.

At WNO, she sang Pamina and Papagena in The Magic Flute, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Giannetta in L’Elisir d’Amore. Recent engagements include performing the role of Fiordiligi in Così fan Tutte with Nederlandse Reisopera, as well as Felicity (Fiordiligi) in A Little Too Cozy (Così fan tutte) with Against the Grain Theatre, and making her debut at the world-renowned Concertgebouw.
