Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about outdoor skating rinks in Mississauga
When do the outdoor skating rinks officially open in Mississauga and where are they located?
The City’s outdoor skating rinks officially opened this past Saturday, November 23.
Mississauga has many outdoor skating rinks, including three outdoor ice rinks listed below and 24 natural ice rinks organized and maintained by neighbourhood volunteers. The rinks are open daily, weather permitting.
1) Mississauga Celebration Square Ice Rink
300 City Centre Drive
Open every day from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and skating is FREE! Skate rentals and sharpening services are available on site at a cost. Don’t forget to stop by The Cabin’s heated patio to warm up! For more information, visit here.
2) Woodhurst Heights Park Outdoor Skating Rink
3475 Ash Row Crescent
Located behind the Glen Commons plaza at Glen Erin Drive and The Collegeway, this FREE rink is walking distance via the Glen Erin Trail and can also be accessed from Woodhurst Crescent or Ash Row Crescent. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
3) Burnhamthorpe Community Centre Outdoor Covered Rink
1500 Gulleden Drive
Located within steps of the Chic Murray indoor arena and Burnhamthorpe Community Centre, this 100x100 square foot playing surface has an overhead roof to help maintain ice conditions when the temperatures change or when it rains or snows – bonus: the change rooms are heated! Drop-in for a skate around the rink. Skating and rental rates apply.
There are also 24 natural ice rinks in the city that are free and open from sunrise to 11 p.m. These rinks are maintained by volunteers so conditions are subject to weather. For a list of natural ice rinks, visit here.
