Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - How do I get a permit for boulevard parking in Mississauga?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.”
We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.

Today’s question is about boulevard parking.

How do I get a permit for boulevard parking in Mississauga?

The City of Mississauga gives residents the opportunity to petition for changes to existing parking regulations in regard to the location and length of time allowed for parking.
Residents can petition for lower driveway boulevard parking, which refers to parking on the lower portion of the driveway located between the sidewalk and the roadway curb.

Residents interested in petitioning can complete a petition form and follow the below process:

1.    Obtain signatures from residents of homes on the affected street, in support of the change. More than half of the residents must support the change in order for the City’s Transportation and Works department to investigate the request.

2.    Fax, mail or deliver the completed petition form to the below address:

City of Mississauga Transportation and Works Department Traffic Operations Section

3185 Mavis Rd. Mississauga, ON L5C 1T7 Fax: 905-896-5583

3.    Transportation and Works will review the petition and advise if there is a situation where the request can’t be supported i.e. safety, road geometry, etc.

4.    If Transportation and Works support the request, a formal questionnaire will be mailed to homeowners on the affected street.

5.    If 66 per cent of the returned questionnaires agree with the proposed parking regulation change along with the Ward Councillor, a report recommending the change will be submitted to City Council.

For more information about petitions for changes to parking regulations, residents can call 3-1-1 or 905-615-4311 outside City limits.
