Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - What events are happening in Mississauga for the Victoria Day long weekend?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.”
We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city

Today’s question is about Victoria Day long weekend activities.

What events are happening in Mississauga for the Victoria Day long weekend?

This long weekend, if you’re not out taking a road trip and plan to keep it local, there are many fun activities to consider in Mississauga. Whether with friends, family or with your kids, check out the below list:

Embrace the Outdoors at a Park or Trail

Run, walk or bike at one of the City’s many parks and trails. There’s a park for everyone with various amenities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, outdoor fitness equipment, leash-free zones, soccer fields and more. Search for a park at eparks.ca.

Learn a New Skill at the Library

There will be plenty of library activities for kids of all ages on the Saturday (May 18). Parents can bring their child for Family Storytime, Reading Buddies (also available in French), LEGO Club and more. With May being Maker Month, there will also be a Makerspace Open House (Courtneypark Library) and a 3D Design learning session (Meadowvale Library) for all ages.

All Mississauga libraries will be closed on May 19 and 20 (Victoria Day).

Practice your Swing and Book a Tee Time

Swing into the weekend with a game (or two) of golf. Join us at BraeBen Golf Course in the heart of the city, or Lakeview, located just minutes from the QEW. Juniors (17 years and under) play for free when accompanied by a playing adult at BraeBen’s 9 Hole Golf Course for the month of May.

Stay Active at a Community Centre

Weekends are for relaxation, but for those who love to stay physically motivated, there are a number of drop-in activities at a community centre near you. From boot camps to aquatics and sports to yoga, there is an activity for anyone, at any age.

Find a drop-in activity at a community centre near you: activemississauga.ca.

All recreation facilities will be closed on May 20 (Victoria Day).

Experience the Bradley Museum from a Different Perspective

Iranian-Canadian artist, Sophie Sabet, brings her idea of what home is to the museum space by transforming the museum’s 1830s domestic setting into an autobiographical exhibition that deals with the complexities of her Iranian-Canadian home. I Almost Didn’t Feel You Leave runs from May 11 to June 16.

The Bradley Museum will be closed on May 20 (Victoria Day).

Celebrate the Start of Endless Summer Fun at Celebration Square

End your long weekend on a high note by celebrating the summer season with high flying acts, musical activities, food trucks, a farmers market, kids’ activities and more on May 20 from noon to 4 p.m. Summer Kick-Off will give you a taste of what’s to come at Celebration Square this summer.
