Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.

What are some fun things I can do in Mississauga this summer?

While summer is the season for planning vacations, road trips, and visits with friends and family, it’s also the perfect time to try something new. Check out this summer bucket list of events and activities happening around Mississauga, no registration required.

1.    Get your sweat on at a drop-in fitness program

From muscle conditioning to yoga, drop-in fitness programs are happening at community centres across Mississauga. Check out mississauga.ca/fitness for class descriptions, locations and times. Simply pay for the session when you attend.

 

2.    Enjoy a free, outdoor fitness class

Stay active this summer with Fresh Air Fitness at Celebration Square. Until August 21, enjoy a free, outdoor boot camp, Zumba or yoga class every Wednesday at 7 p.m., weather permitting. For the full schedule, visit mississauga.ca/fresh-air-fitness.

 

3.    Have a tail-wagging good time at a local leash-free zone

Spend some quality time with your dog, get some exercise, and make some new two-legged and four-legged friends at one of the City’s eight leash-free zones. Use the eParks map to find a leash free zone near you.

 

4.    Experience a drop-in guided tour at a Mississauga Museum

Did you know the collections at Mississauga's museums include over 18,000 artifacts? Learn about Mississauga’s cultural history during a drop-in guided tour at Bradley Museum, Leslie Log House, and Benares Historic House. Enjoy a scenic walk around the grounds while you’re there! 5.    Try a tasty treat at the Farmer’s Market

Are you a foodie looking to support local food and farmers? Check out the Farmer’s Market at Celebration Square, Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shop from an assortment of Ontario fruits and vegetables, baked goods and more! Go to mississauga.ca/mclc-farmers-market for more information.

 

6.    Celebrate Canada’s 152 Birthday

No plans yet for Canada Day? Join thousands at Celebration Square on July 1 for live music and entertainment, food and fireworks. It’s a party you won’t want to miss! Visit mississauga.ca/canada-day-celebration-2019 for the event details.

 

7.    Enjoy the spectacular garden displays at Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens

Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens is home to one of Canada’s largest collections of rhododendrons. The display includes more than 800 azaleas and rhododendrons that were donated by the late Dr. Joseph Brueckner. 8.    See the city with the self-guided Public Art Tour

Did you know there is public art located around downtown Mississauga? Perhaps you have seen The Book outside of Mississauga’s Central Library or Contemplating Child at Community Common Park? 9.    Explore Mississauga on two wheels

There’s so much to explore in the city. Pedal into summer and enjoy Mississauga’s cycling network featuring approximately 500 kilometres of multi-use trails, park paths, bike lanes and signed bike routes. 10.  Take in a show at the Square Amphitheatre at Celebration Square

Did you know the outdoor Square Amphitheatre at Celebration Square becomes a live children’s theatre in August? On Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7 p.m., enjoy free productions including Bernstein Bears, Beauty and the Beast and more!  For more information, go to mississauga.ca/make-believe-theatre.
