10 Things To Do In Mississauga Over The Summer

Whether you’re enjoying some time away from education or just want to spend a few lazy summer evenings, there’s plenty to do in Mississauga. Let’s take a look at some of the best ways to spend the summer months in ‘Sauga.

Go For A Brewery Tour
You’ll have to leave the kids at home for this one. Old Credit Brewery is no newbie to the craft beer scene. The company has been producing its delicious beers and ales for over 25 years. Housed in the Port Credit region of the city, Old Credit offers complimentary tours of its brewing headquarters. Learn how the process works and just try to refuse a sample


Hit the Arcade

This is one for the whole family. Playdium arcade is located in Square One shopping centre and is a haven for kids young and old. There are over 40,000 feet of indoor attractions including video games, arcade machines and slots.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Playdium offers numerous activities which are a little more hands-on. There are go-karts, bumper cars, and batting cages to sample. Playdium even has its own mini-golf course.

Alternatively, you can jump on-line and enjoy arcade machines and slots from anywhere in the city.

Food Trucking
All food tastes better when it’s served out the back of a truck. The Mississauga food truck scene is the stuff of legend with some passionate chefs serving out delicious food on the go like the Halal Guys. Each truck tends to specialize in no more than a couple of dishes so be sure to sample as many as possible. There are regular meet-ups like the Food Truck’N Friday in late August or the more popular Toronto Food Truck Festival on August 2-5.


Sample The Nightlife

The long summer days often call for relaxation. The fun doesn't stop with the sunshine so why not sample Mississauga's excellent nightlife? There are plenty of bars and restaurants in various areas Door FiftyFive, and The Wave Bar & Lounge are just some popular spots. 

But the fun doesn't stop there. Plenty of venues are open until the early hours. The 24/7 Casino Woodbine is certainly one of them with a wide variety of slot and table games. Outdoor Pools

Walk Through Nature

Mississauga is blessed with beautiful nature all around it. The Riverwood Conservancy is the standout on the list, a 150-acre site nestled in the middle of Mississauga. The conservation of the land is carried out by local volunteers and a member-based charity and the site is open all year round. You can stroll through all types of nature from deep woodland areas to ravines and wetlands.

Go Shopping
Summer is a good time for retail therapy, so why not take a break from the sun? Square One Canada’s second-largest shopping centres with over 2.2 million square feet of retail space. The massive retail centre has something for everyone as well as over 60 places to eat and drink during the day. Square One is open until 9:00 pm daily.

Visit the Amusement Park
Nothing says summertime like a trip to an amusement park. Thankfully, just a hair outside of Mississauga, is the entertaining Fantasy Fair, a massive indoor destination able to entertain the whole family. There are all sorts of rides and attractions for kids of all ages to enjoy from spinning cups and a Ferris wheel to an indoor climbing wall.

Tim Horton’s Southside Shuffle
The Southside Shuffle, a blues and jazz festival that has been entertaining Port Credit since 1999, returns to the Port Credit Memorial Park for its 21st anniversary from September 6 to 8.
It started with founder and artistic director Chuck Jackson’s vision and passion to bring the blues to Port Credit. Though it began with four bands, one stage and 2,300 people, it now draws over 75,000 people and encompasses four stages over three days. Two stages are free to the public and two are paid admission stages.

Mississauga Waterfront Festival
You may have missed the 2019 Mississauga Waterfront Festival but not to worry, the event will return next year in all its glory. The festival runs for a weekend in June at Memorial Park in the city’s Port Credit region. With performances from local and international musicians, this is a great way to spend an evening or two for free. This has been the case for over 20 years. Of course, food and drink will be available with vendors serving every cuisine under the sun.
