Modern Entrepreneur – Mississauga's Tania Kolar
In conversation with Mississauga entrepreneur, Tania Kolar.
How long have you been an entrepreneur for?
Over two years.
When and where did you come up with the quote of "Your darkest moments bring the most illuminate teachings"?
When I started writing Breaking The Stupid Mold. Upon reflection of the challenges I have faced, I realized that negative experiences are temporary and will eventually shift. With darkness comes light.
What's been the single biggest obstacle in your entrepreneurial career?
Encountering delays when relying on other people and realizing that they are not and will never be as vested you are. As an entrepreneur you have high expectations so it’s a challenge having to make peace with the fact that most people don’t share your passion.
What's been the most rewarding aspect of what you do?
Taking my clients from where they are to where they want to be and empowering others to achieve their goals and witnessing a positive transformation.
What's one common misconception about the Life Coaching industry?
That a coach is an adviser and will tell clients what to do. The client inherently has the ability to determine and achieve their goals. A coach works in partnership with the client to facilitate change and achieve goals.
What prompted you to write and publish your book?
In 2006, I was the victim of a violent attack. Although it was a traumatic experience, I found the benefit in my suffering. I learned a great deal about myself and was able to break negative patterns and beliefs, and I want to teach others to do the same.
What one piece of advice do you have for other entrepreneurs?
Start and persevere. Remember why you are doing what you are setting out to accomplish. If you focus on why you are doing something, the how will reveal itself.
What three things are essential to your daily life?
Gratitude, affirmations and working out. Every morning, I write down all the things I am grateful for and then head to the gym. I use affirmations and “affirmitudes” throughout my day, which is an affirmation with an attitude of gratitude. My book has a chapter on affirmitudes which you can use any time you want to shift your emotional state, increase your consciousness and improve spiritual well-being, and/or affirm what you desire while expressing gratitude at the same time.
How do you want to be remembered?
As someone who inspires the masses and makes an indelible difference in the lives of others.
