Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - What are some changes customers may see when businesses reopen?
Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about how businesses will look when they reopen.
What are some changes customers may see when businesses reopen?
As some businesses reopen, you will notice changes to how they operate and serve their customers.
To continue keeping our communities safe and healthy, businesses are taking protective measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. As you go into reopened businesses you may notice that:
- A limited number of people are allowed in a business at one time
- Physical distancing is required. Businesses may use signage, or floor markings to help keep people at least 2 metres apart
- Staff and customers may be wearing a non-medical face mask, particularly in areas where physical distancing is difficult to maintain, such as at cash registers
- Contactless payment methods are used more frequently to limit contact with customers
- High touched surfaces are cleaned often
- Signs are posted to advise people feeling ill or at risk for having COVID-19 (e.g., anyone who has had close contact with a case) to not enter.
When you enter reopened businesses, do your best to follow the new practices to protect yourself and others.
Everyone plays an important role in making Mississauga’s businesses and communities safer. Continue to do your part by practicing physical distancing, wearing a non-medical mask if physical distancing will be difficult to maintain, washing your hands regularly and staying at home if you are ill.
