Weddings In The Time of COVID19: How To Go About It Safely

This is a delicate time in the lives of so many people. Covid-19 has turned many lives upside down and plans have been dashed. If you are one of the couples that had a wedding planned during this period, then surely the event will look nothing like you had envisioned beforehand.

For those that are only just now trying to plan their dream wedding, there is a lot to consider. You can still have a magical wedding if you are open to different possibilities than what you might have wanted had there never been a pandemic.

In this article, we will take a look at some ways that you can have your wedding even during Covid-19.

You can elope
If you are a fan of old movies from before the 60s then surely, you know what eloping is all about. A couple decides that they need to sneak off and get married without any interference from friends or family.

These days, not many people use the word elope because of the association that you are doing it in secret. The reality is that sometimes you don’t want a lot of fanfare and expense when getting married and this qualifies as eloping.

How it is done depends on where you are as there are different requirements. For instance if you elope in Wisconsin you only need the two of you as an officiating minister is not even necessary. This is called a Self-Uniting Marriage and is not legal everywhere.

In most places you at least need a minister to officiate to make it official. But, in the age of social distancing this is an ideal situation as there is no need to worry about logistics of lots of guests.

Have an outdoor wedding
You may have limited choice when it comes to your wedding venue since being inside in a group is tricky these days.

This can be avoided by having a wedding outside. Now, your options are almost unlimited as there is plenty of space outdoors. And you can ensure that your guests are not exposing themselves or you to the virus since you can keep everybody far enough apart. Plus there is less chance of any viral load as you are not inside a building that wouldn’t allow any potential virus to accumulate in the air inside.

Try to limit how many guests that you have to make it easy to manage and will allow you to pick a suitable outdoor location much easier.

Make it virtual
This may not appeal to many people but is an option for some. You probably are already used to doing virtual meetings online with video so this could also work for a wedding. You can have it just you as a couple and your minister with a video link for guests to watch the ceremony from the comfort of their own home.

One of the concerns that many soon to be wed couples have is that the gift giving part of the wedding is awkward if many people are not able to attend a ceremony. This is a good way to include people so they feel part of the process when they have given a gift or money to the newlyweds.
