Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - With the new Stay-at-Home Order in effect, can I still go out for a walk?
Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.”
We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about the new Stay-at-Home Order.
With the new Stay-at-Home Order in effect, can I still go out for a walk?
This week, the Government of Ontario declared a second Provincial Emergency and has issued a Stay-at-Home Order and enhanced public health and workplace safety measures for all of Ontario.
The new measures encourage everyone to stay at home as much as possible except for essential purposes such as for food, health-care services including picking up medication, exercise or work, where someone’s job cannot be done at home.
Getting exercise is very important for everyone’s mental health and wellbeing during these times and is considered an essential activity. We ask that, when exercising outdoors, please only go with members of your household, ensure you physically distance (2 metres/6 feet apart) and when that is not possible, wear a face covering.
It is critical that everyone follows all measures to help control the spread of COVID-19 in our community:
Stay home as much as possible
Only have close contact with people in your household or essential supports
Wear a face covering when out for essentials
Only go out for essential trips to pick up groceries, access health care services, exercise or essential work
Residents are encouraged to report any non-compliance they witness to 3-1-1 (905-615-4311 outside of City limits.)
