The very first Disc Golf Course in Mississauga was officially opened at Dellwood Park on Friday, October 8th just in time for the holiday long weekend. With a fair bit of pride and months of working on this initiative, Ward 1 City Councillor Stephen Dasko was on hand to say a few words and cut the ribbon for this momentous event. Disc Golfers Jeff and Kara explained the rules and played a round with other willing participants on the 6-hole course.

Disc golf is a sport where players throw a disc from a tee off area into a metal basket mounted in the ground. The object of the game is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws. It has similar rules to golf.

Both Dellwood Park and Spruce Park Disc Golf Courses were designed for beginners and families as a community minded, all-inclusive sport that can be played physically distanced. They are open year-round and can be played in all seasons.

Disc Golf has grown in popularity in recent years and has over 300 courses across Canada and many more opening up soon.
