Our first ‘shared’ show sees Barbara Pickett and Lisa Compton sharing some of their favourite things with us during the month of April. Opening April 1 and running throughout the month you can discover more work from these two local artists. Lisa Compton and Barbara Pickett met at an “Arts on the Credit” event and instantly became friends.  Although their medium of choice is quite different from one another, they both love to create beautiful paintings to be enjoyed by others.

This exhibition showcases some of their favourite subjects and blends them together to take us on a journey not only around the corner, but to wonderful destinations across the globe.

Lisa’s inspiration is drawn from the natural world. When choosing her subjects, Lisa creates what she loves.   “Given the uncertainty of today’s world, my art is a welcome tether to feeling at peace with myself and my environment,” Lisa explains. 

Barbara’s watercolours focus on the beauty of architecture.  “I love to take photos of places that grab my attention and then recreate them as soft or vibrant watercolour, in a way that draws the viewer into the space.  Using a range of values, luminous colours, and playing with perspective, I create pieces that allow you to revisit places you love, or dream of experiencing”, says Barbara.
