Modern Artist Profile: Fame Holiday
In conversation with Mississauga artist Fame Holiday.
Take Me Away is an incredibly powerful composition with a strong and smartly communicated message. What's the one line that is the most impactful to you?
The one line that is the most impactful to me is “black kids dying, yeah it’s like that everyday, there’s no way to get away. These the cards that we were played”. This is impactful to me because for so long we’ve been fighting for equal rights and to end racism, but even after all these years, racism is still such a big thing and we’ve yet to see change. It almost feels normalized, like this is the way the world is supposed to be but that’s not true.
Describe your style of music to a stranger in six words
Versatile, Hip-Hop, R&B, Feel-Good, Vibes, Emotional
You've released three albums in five years - how do you maintain creativity?
I maintain creativity by trying new things, travelling to different places, always wanting more for myself, paying attention to social media and what’s happening in the world and never being too comfortable or content with my current situation.
What do you want your musical legacy to be?
The legacy I want to leave as an artist is similar to what Drake has done for Toronto, but I’d like to do it for the City of Mississauga. I want to be remembered as the underdog that never gave up, who consistently put in the work to achieve all of his goals and took care of his family.
What does the balance of 2021 look like for you?
Nothing but consistency! It’s all gas no breaks for me! I plan on releasing more singles, building the anticipation up for my next project that will be releasing closer to the end of 2021.
What's your message to inspire others in the new modern world?
I want to inspire people by being an example of what making sacrifices, dedicating yourself to your craft and never giving up looks like and helping people see that they can do the same.
