Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - Can I report a neighbour whose lawn isn’t being maintained?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about lawn maintenance.

Can I report a neighbour whose lawn isn’t being maintained?

All property owners, including rental properties owners, in the City must repair and maintain their property according to the City’s by-laws.If you need detailed information, please check the applicable City by-laws or contact 311 with specific questions.

Grass and weeds on private property and the adjoining boulevard must be cut and maintained to a height not exceeding 20 cm as per the Nuisance Weed and Tall Grass Control By-law. Nuisance weeds must be removed and destroyed from private property.

In addition, trees on private property must be maintained so that they don’t cause a safety hazard. If a tree on private property is causing a problem, you can report it to the City by contacting 311.
