Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - What is the Mississauga Library’s Lending Partnership?
Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about libraries.
What is the Mississauga Library’s Lending Partnership?
The Mississauga Library partnered with the Hamilton, Burlington, London and Ottawa libraries to help make it easier than ever to borrow the eBooks and audiobooks you’ve been looking for! Through this partnership, Mississauga Library cardholders can access 260,000 additional titles, including eBooks, audiobooks and digital magazines. In 2020, the library experienced a 48 per cent increase in eBook and audiobook use.
Through Libby by OverDrive, residents with a Mississauga Library card can borrow and place holds on digital materials from any of the five libraries. If you’re looking for a title that is unavailable at the Mississauga Library, you’ll have the option to search for and borrow library items from any of the other four libraries’ digital catalogues.
To access partner library materials:
Visit the Mississauga OverDrive homepage
Click Partner Libraries in the top right corner of the homepage
Select the library of interest to access its catalogue
Select the item you’re interested in borrowing or placing on hold
Sign in to the welcome page by selecting your local library system for which you have a library card
Complete the sign-in process by inputting your library card number and pin
Checkout your items following the same process you use when borrowing digital items from your local library
Mississauga Library cards are free for those of all ages who live, go to school, work or own property in Mississauga. Those who are 16 years of age or older can also register for a virtual library card to access the digital catalogue and many online library services.
