Thanks to the incredible support from Mississauga and the surrounding areas, the Drive Thru Ribfest held in June was an overwhelming success raising over $70,000 with proceeds going to the Food Bank of Mississauga and other Rotary sponsored charities.  Dave Hope, the incoming Event Chair, announces that based on the overwhelming support of the community for the Drive Thru “We are back!” for one more event this year.

“The support from the community was overwhelming at a time when the need was so great.” says Dave. “The pandemic continues to linger and with the fear of new variants coming on the scene, the Mississauga Food Bank continues to be an important food source for many Mississauga residents suffering food insecurity. To this end we have decided to again support this important initiative in our city. Proceeds will again support the Mississauga Food Band as well as many other Rotary sponsored charities.”

“We will continue in our Drive Thru format and with the support of Erin Mills Town Centre we are able to bring the Event back in an environment that protects the health and safety of all the families in our community.”  Finger lickin’ ribs continue to be the main event with roasted corn on the cob, lemonade, and Tiny Tom’s donuts as add-ons. The challenge is on to surpass the June event in pounds of ribs consumed.

NEW this Ribfest will be the appearance of the GOVAXX bus.  "This innovative partnership with Ontario Ministry of Health and Metrolinx will ensure Ontarians have even easier access to a first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine," Solicitor General Sylvia Jones said in a statement. "By bringing vaccines directly to the people, we are helping more residents get the protection they need for themselves, their families and their communities." The bus will be onsite administering the Pfizer vaccine on Sunday September 19 from 9:00am to 7:00pm.
