October is library month and in Mississauga, here are 10 reasons to visit and experience one of our 18 libraries!
Author Talks and the craft of writing
Discover a new author or learn more about a favourite at Author Talks. On Wednesday, October 12 from 7 to 8 p.m. Sandra SG Wong, a finalist for the Crime Writers of Canada Awards of Excellence and a nominee for the Whistler Independent Book Awards, will be talking about their craft of telling captivating stories.
Lectures from your living room
Join this month’s creepy lecture for people 13 years and up called Demonic Infestation in 17th-Century Quebec: The Diabolical Arts and Daily Lives of Early Canada on Tuesday, October 4 online using Webex from 7 to 8:15 p.m.
Something for everyone

Newcomers unite
Find English conversation circles, job-hunting resources, the Canadian Citizenship: Get Ready program and much more offered by Mississauga’s newcomer services. Sign up for a newcomer program today!
Study group gatherings
Most library locations have bookable group and individual study rooms. Groups or individuals can book study rooms for non-commercial use for up to two hours.
Important community resources
The Burnhamthorpe Library and Mississauga Valley Library host Open Window Hub, a resource and information centre designed to support and empower people who are unhoused and/or experiencing mental health issues within the Mississauga.
Tech needs no more
Computers, photocopiers, printers, scanners and other types of technology are available to use or borrow at your local library. You can sign out a laptop or tablet to use during your visit at the Clarkson Library. Feel free to hop on WiFi hotspots to get stuff done. Ultramodern equipment like 3D printers are available for a small fee.
Get your green on
You can borrow a park pass or donate your seeds in the fall to the library. Visit the seed libraries page to learn more or sign up for the virtual programs: Nature in Your Neighbourhood – Halloween Edition For Kids! on Thursday, October 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. or Winterize Your Lawn and Garden Tuesday, October 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Makers make your mark
Participate in demonstrations of 3D printing, circuitry, robotics and more at the Mississauga Maker Open House. Admission on Open House days is first come, first served. Visit Thursday, October 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Library location and Wednesday, October 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Clarkson Library location.
Calling comic fans!
The Mississauga Comic Expo 2022 is back, free and in-person at the Living Arts Centre on Sunday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plan your route for the artist alley, exhibitors, workshops, panels, cosplay shoots, tabletop board game demos, video game free-play session, presentations and featured guests.
