"Safety Starts at Home" LIVE Quiz Show Puts Senior Safety to the Test Mississauga's at Square One
Coming to Centre Court at Square One Shopping Centre on Friday, March 17, 2023, the Peel Crime Stoppers present: "Safety Starts @ Home Quiz Show - Seniors Edition". This LIVE in-person event brings safety awareness and education to the public in a fun, engaging, and collaborative game-show style manner.
Produced by KPI Media Group, the event brings together a number of community partners, including Peel Police, Peel Paramedics and Mississauga Fire to share safety tips for seniors and their families.
"We are thrilled to have support from, first responders in our community, Square One Shopping Centre and the Ontario Government, all in collaboration to propel safety and well-being education in our community," says Peel Crime Stoppers Chair, Imran Hasan.
“First Responder teams will be on site as part of our collaboration with the community making this a really fun and free, FAMILY event, continues Hasan. “We’ve got colouring stations and safety awareness initiatives and the chance to be entertained by one of Canada’s best, Anwar Knight.”
The game show-style production will involve the audience as they play along in the special answer contests hosted by well-known Canadian TV personality and local resident Anwar Knight. "I can't wait to get on stage and connect with the crowd. This is such a unique event that brings the community together and it will help put a spotlight on what actions we can do to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe,” says Knight.
The free event features two live shows - one at 11:00 am and another at 2:00 pm, with special reserved seating for seniors. "We want to celebrate our seniors and want them to connect with one another. Most importantly, we want to help keep them safe,” declares Hasan. “The month of March is ‘Fraud Prevention Month’. Unfortunately, fraud is the number one crime against older Canadians and is one of the many safety topics we will highlight to empower today’s seniors, their families and neighbours," concludes Hasan.
Joining Knight on stage will be first responders to help reveal safety tips ranging from telephone fraud to fire prevention and how to protect your vehicle from being stolen – a timely topic for residents in Peel Region. The entire production will also be recorded and made available online for the public access.
Peel Crime Stoppers is a non-profit community based charitable program involving the cooperative efforts of the community, the media and the police to fight against crime.
