Where you can ride your bike, e-scooter or e-bike

Multi-use trails

Paved trails that are separated from the road and are typically next to arterial roads. These are meant for cyclists, pedestrians, e-scooter and e-bike users.

Park trails

Can be paved or unpaved trails in parks and conservation areas. These are meant for cyclists, pedestrians and e-bikes under 40 kilograms (e.g. pedal-assist bikes.)

Roads without bicycle lanes

These roads don’t have designated pavement markings for bicycle lanes. Cyclists and e-bike users can use all roads. E-scooter users can only ride on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h or less.

Safety when riding

It’s important to know how to travel safely around Mississauga on an e-bike, e-scooter or bicycle.

  • Obey all road rules, signage, traffic signals and stop signs.

  • Be alert and stay aware of your surroundings.

  • Stay visible to drivers by ensuring your bike and e-bike has a working bell/horn, light and reflectors. You must have a light when riding at night.

  • E-bike users must wear a helmet. Cyclists and e-scooter users must wear a helmet if under the age of 18. However, all riders are encouraged to wear a helmet for their safety.
