Modern Dining - Brunch at the Bread Bar

If you’re looking for a terrific brunch spot just outside of Mississauga, then Hamilton’s Bread Bar should be in your GPS on Sundays.
The all-you-can-eat brunch buffet at the “earth to table” themed restaurant has something for nearly every palate with their delicious menu offerings.
Bread Bar brunch buffet menu stand of five pillars: Eye Openers, On The Buffet, Eggs, Savoury and Sweet.
During a recent visit with the talented and wonderful Stephanie Mayo, owner of Eat Local Ontario and The World As I See It blog, we took the short drive from Mississauga across the QEW to the James street location on a Sunday morning.
There’s a paid public parking lot next door so it’s a very short walk from your car door to theirs.
Upon entering, you’ll se the “On The Buffet” side of things with pizza, salad, baked goods, yogurt and a few other beautifully created and delicious items. Pace yourself, though; there’s a whole lot more once you sit down.
We decided to order nearly one of everything and share it to eliminate waste and get a broad scope of their offerings.
We were promptly seated thanks to our reservation, which we highly endorse as the place was packed during our 2+ hours there.
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging without being overbearing.
We mixed and matched from four of the pillars and as I was driving, Stephanie took the Eye Openers duty.
Each dish comes in a slightly less than single serving, which is smart so you don’t get full after only a few dishes.
Despite the dining room being full, there was a minimal wait for each of our subsequent dishes to arrive; once our initial order was put on our table, we’d thought ahead and ordered our next dish at the same time. Gotta keep things flowing, right? Right.
Yes, everything was appetizing and appealing; here are a few things that stood out for us:
The Korean Fried Chicken with gochujang aioli, house kimchi, sesame seed, and scallions was ordered twice as it was that good.
The Coconut Curry with chickpea, cashew, fried tempeh and house naan was oh-so well balanced flavour-wise and surprisingly complimented the rest of the typical brunch items.
The Omelette has tomato, brie and basil and it’s a true testament to a restaurant to perfect such a simple yet easy-to-cook-incorrectly item.
The Buttermilk Pancakes, those fluffy, delicious, savoury and fantastic pancakes…so, so good!
The Steak & Pepper Hash comprised of potato, bell peppers, red onion, mushroom and chimichurri is one of the more heartier options but because of the aforementioned smaller portions, it doesn’t sit heavily.
Reward your sweet tooth with the Almond Polenta Cake, made up of white chocolate & strawberry mousse and basil pressed yogurt. It looked almost to good to eat but of course, we found a way to look past that and eat it.
The items up front are terrific accent pieces to the menu items, and perhaps I had three servings of the granola and Thurston’s Honey in the Yogurt Parfait. Perhaps…
The croissants and pizza will please carb-lovers and are balanced with lovely antipasto options, along with salad selections.
Enjoy Bread Bar’s Brunch Buffet on Sundays from 9:30 am to 2 pm at an value-packed price of only $49 for adults, including a choice of two drinks and access to the all-you-can-eat buffet. Got kids? Cool. It’s a little less than half price for them at $23.
