6 Reasons To Attend the 2023 Portugalo Fest at Mississauga's Celebration Square
Portugalo Fest is a celebration of Portugal’s history, cuisine, folklore and traditions where all communities are welcome to participate and join us in the heart of Mississauga. Saturday September 9, 2023 at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Here are six sweet reasons why you should attend this cultural festival this year!
1. It was quickly recognized for its unique cultural experience last year
Portugalo Fest was a finalist for the Festival of the Year Award from the Mississauga Arts Council after only its inaugural year.
2. There will be Portuguese traditions taking place
Authentic folklore groups will be dancing and special Fado artists will be performing. There is also the Lisbon Style Group Wedding that will have a handful of couples getting married in the same ceremony. This festival will be the closest thing to Portugal without getting on a plane!
3. Portuguese entertainment will be on stage
International Portuguese artists will be performing their music as well as a handful of well-known local talent. Portugalo Fest has been known for finding new talent after its inaugural year and will be featuring another new artist from Portugal for the first time in Canada.
4. It’s free for everyone
Sharing the Portuguese heritage is a major key to grow Mississauga’s thriving cultural scene. Everyone from all communities and surrounding areas are welcome to come. Bring your friends, neighbours and family for a great time!
5. Portuguese food, drinks, and marketplace
There will be a selection of both Portuguese chicken, those delicious custard carts and non-Portuguese cuisine and comfort food. This year will also feature the addition of a beer garden serving up authentic Portuguese beer. With a wide variety of artisanal vendors, there will be a lot to taste and explore.
6. It will be fun for the whole family
The Kids Zone will feature a puppet show, face painting, sports demonstrations and a magician. The wading pool at Mississauga Celebration Square will also be open. Add in free parking and all you have to do is get there.
