Dodge muscle at Brampton Assembly: end of an era, and a long family history

The era of gas-powered Dodge muscle cars at Stellantis’s Brampton Assembly Plant is winding down. For Steph, this ending is personal. Her dad spent nearly 30 years of his life as an auto worker on the assembly lines in Brampton. After he died suddenly in 2017, she didn’t think she’d ever again be able to bring herself to drive a car built in the city where she grew up. But with the news that Brampton Assembly is being retooled to build EVs and that 2023 marks the “Last Call” for the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Chrysler 300, she decided she needed to get behind the wheel of a Dodge muscle car for a sentimental sendoff.

Thanks to assistance from Stellantis Canada, Steph’s last experience with the Dodge Charger goes much deeper. Follow along as she’s given the chance to spec a 2023 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Jailbreak, the last one that will ever be built for the company’s media fleet in Canada. We then take you inside Brampton Assembly to hear the stories from the people who have made their living assembling these cars over decades. Watch as the Charger Hellcat Jailbreak rolls off the final line and we push the button to ignite the mighty roar of this 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 for what’s likely the final time.
