Mayor Parrish & the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra Celebrate Mississauga's 50th Birthday

On Saturday, October 19, Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish and the MSO will celebrate the city of Mississauga’s 50th anniversary at the Living Arts Centre with The Heroic Symphony - a Mayor’s Gala Concert. A special post-concert VIP reception with Mayor Parrish, Maestro Mastromonaco, members of Council, and special guests will wrap what will be a fantastic evening of music and mingling.

The Heroic Symphony will feature two masterpieces of the Romantic era – Chopin’s remarkable first piano concerto, and Beethoven’s powerful Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”. Mississauga composer Larysa Kuzmenko’s Metropolis Overture, a special composition inspired by the growth of Mississauga from rural townships to bustling city, completes a program that is not to be missed.

Pianist Eric Guo will join the orchestra for a thrilling performance of Chopin’s first piano concerto that will showcase his abilities as a world-class concert pianist. Known for “his ability to make the piano sing” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer), Eric’s career flourished after winning first prize at the second International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw (2023).

“I am a big believer that providing access to arts and culture in large cities such as Mississauga helps to foster a spirit of inclusivity and enjoyment in the neighbourhoods that we choose to live, shop and enjoy,” said Mayor Carolyn Parrish. “That’s why I couldn’t be more thrilled to host this memorable gala concert dedicated to our City’s golden, 50th anniversary.”

Regular priced concert tickets start at $40. Special pricing is available for seniors, families, youth (15-26), and groups of 10 or more.
Post-concert VIP reception tickets are $50. Enjoy one complimentary drink along with a selection of hors d’oeuvres and desserts as you mingle and toast to Mississauga’s 50th anniversary!

FREE underground parking is included with every ticket purchase.
