From October 7 - 12, Mississauga Animal Services hosts Adopt-a-thon

Join Mississauga Animal Services for a special Adopt-a-thon event. The community is invited to help find loving, permanent homes for the shelter’s long-term residents. To encourage adoption, the shelter is offering an enticing 50 per cent discount on adoption fees during this event.

Mississauga Animal Services is committed to reducing the number of animals awaiting adoption. From October 7 to 12, between 10 am and 7 pm, the shelter opens its doors to potential pet owners, offering a unique opportunity to meet animals waiting for a forever home, some for over a year. This Adopt-a-thon is an ideal occasion for individuals and families considering adding a pet to their lives.

The event is open to everyone. No appointment is required.
Their address is 735 Central Parkway West.

Adoption benefits

The shelter provides comprehensive health and wellness checks for each animal to ensure successful adoptions. This includes spaying or neutering, initial vaccinations (rabies not included), microchipping and deworming. Additionally, adoptions include the purchase of a first-year pet license, fees from which go directly back into the shelter. Potential adopters should be at least 18 years old, and all family or household members must be reachable by phone at the time of adoption. While appointments are not required, there may be brief waits to meet the animals.

That said, the City of Mississauga’s Animal Care and Control By-law includes standards of care to help protect animals and ensure their well-being, so please review them before making your decision.
