Learn About Winter Wonders at the Royal Botanical Gardens
Back for another bright year, Winter Wonders continues to dazzle visitors with exceptional lighting displays, live entertainment and interactive exhibits.
Housed at Burlington’s Royal Botanical Gardens, Winter Wonders, there are dozens of light installations from hanging lamps, several Christmas trees, a blanket of multicoloured lights across one of their lawns, strand lights strategically scattered throughout, and more.
Upon entry, there are carollers to greet you and a place to grab a hot drink as you wander the Winter Wonders. Make sure your smartphone is charged as there are beautiful photo opportunities throughout.
Adding to the ambiance are fire pits and a couple of spots to get an additional beverage. Select installations are brightened by delightful Christmas puns, so keep an eye out for those.
There are two interactive trees; one that lights up with voice recognition and another that emits a lovely light pattern if you hug it.
There are a few festive selfie-spots, plus an entertainer or two on the grounds.
Having festive music echo through the experience is also quite a nice touch without being overbearing.
Inside the main building, there’s a spectacular train display, complete with a backdrop of 2,500 plants. Thomas the Tank Engine and some familiar show characters, plus some other cool trains, are in motion here along the seven lines of model train tracks. There were just as many adults as children who enjoyed it, myself included.
There’s also indoor seasonal displays in the main building that should be experienced and appreciated.
Winter Wonders runs from December 5th to January 5th, Thursdays to Sundays, rain or shine.
