Mayor of Mississauga 2024 By-Election Nominations Open March 6
The nomination period opens on Wednesday, March 6 at 3 p.m. for those interested in becoming a candidate and running in the by-election for Mayor of Mississauga. Nominations will be accepted until April 26, 2024 at 2 p.m.
To qualify as a candidate you must be:
A Canadian citizen
At least 18 years old
A resident of Mississauga or the owner or tenant of property in Mississauga or the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in the city
Not be prohibited under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law
How to register
The following steps must be taken if you are interested in becoming a candidate and running for Mayor of Mississauga:
Complete the nomination package.
Book an appointment to meet in-person with an Election Official to file your completed package. The Election Official will validate your identification documents and ensure your nomination package is complete and meets all requirements.
Pay a nomination fee of $200. This payment is made once your nomination package and identification has been verified by an Election Official.
Join the candidate information session
A free candidate information session is being held on Tuesday, March 26 from 6 to 10 p.m. for those interested or just considering running for Mayor. You can choose to attend in-person at Mississauga City Hall in the Council Chambers or watch the livestream.
