6 cool date ideas for autumn and winter

If you’re like me, you really aren’t a fan of the boring conventional dates. In the fall and winter, as the weather gets worse and it gets dark sooner, it gets even harder to find something to do. So, to make the dark, cold months a little more bearable, here is my list of top 6 unconventional dates for the Fall and winter seasons!

6. Go for a walk
Touristy and slightly cliched, my number six pick is grab your significant other and explore the great outdoors. Its exceptionally beautiful in the fall with the changing leaves, and exploring the likes of Caledon and the Forks of the Credit is definitely something everyone should see. This idea works for the winter too, a little colder, but a walk through the winter wonderland with your sweetheart, taking in the beautiful Christmas lights will definitely warm you up from the inside out.

5. Visit Blue mountain
Even if you aren’t winter people, or ski people, Blue mountain is totally something you want to check out. At night, the lights seem to shine brighter against the snow, and everything has a more mystical feel to it. You don’t have to ski or snowboard to enjoy it! Explore the shops, eat some of the great food and grab a room at one of the lodges there, and you have a perfect mini holiday during the most wonderful time of the year.

4. Visit a haunted house (or similar attraction)
Keeping up with seasonal traditions, going to a haunted house is definitely on my list. Halloween Haunted at Wonderland is one of the most popular destinations for everything horror filled, but if you’re feeling adventurous and brave, make the trip to the House of Horrors in Niagara Falls. The frightening atmosphere of haunted houses, plus the chill of the night will have you and your lover cuddled up and holding on to each other in no time.

3. A road trip through Muskoka
Number three on my list is to take a road trip up to Muskoka and take in  the cottage country in all its winter wonderland glory. Beautiful all year round, you can certainly spice up your conventional dating life by taking a scenic trip up to the great white north. Go for a snowmobile ride, a walk through the towns, or even find somewhere to throw on a pair of skates and bring out your inner figure skater. This trip is guaranteed to have you two laughing and loving every second.

2. Check out some live music
Number two on my list of non conventional dates for fall and winter is to go to a concert. It’s a great way to relax and have fun, forgetting about the cold weather coming outside. Hit up an intimate club, an outdoor venue, or even head straight downtown to the ACC, bonding over music you both enjoy is a great way to really get to know each other on a deeper level, as well as enjoy a great night out. Its hard to get into the concert going mindset when it’s too cold to step outside without a parka and boots on, but the crowded atmosphere and guaranteed good time is enough to persuade anyone who wants a fun night out with their special someone.

1. A weekend away at Niagara Falls
Number one on my list is a weekend away at Niagara Falls. The falls are absolutely beautiful In the winter, and everywhere is beautiful in the fall with the changing leaves. So grab your guy or gal and book a room near the falls for a private, romantic getaway for just the two of you. Go out and be a tourist for the weekend! Whatever you plan to do, a vacation to one of our country’s most well known landmarks is definitely number one on my list of unconventional dates for fall or winter.
