Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - What’s the best way to dispose leaves of in Mississauga?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about leaf disposal.

What’s the best way to dispose of leaves in Mississauga?

There are several ways to dispose of the leaves in your yard:

1)    The Region of Peel will collect yard waste on your scheduled collection day till the week of December 13. Put your yard waste out for collection in an old garbage can/container or blue/grey bin labelled “Yard Waste” or a Kraft brown paper bag that's durable. Check ‘When does it go’ for your personalized collection schedule.

2)    You can compost the leaves or spread them around the base of your trees. Leaves will fertilize the soil and act as a buffer against extreme temperatures.
