Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - I’m looking for new places to take my dog. Are there off-leash dog parks in Mississauga?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about off-leash dog parks.

I’m looking for new places to take my dog. Are there off-leash dog parks in Mississauga?

The City works with non-profit organization, Leash-Free Mississauga to oversee and operate eight leash-free zones. These zones provide a safe area for dogs where they’re legally allowed off-leash.  Leash-Free Mississauga also provides dog-related educational programming and organizes events at the leash-free zones.

Yearly membership for Leash-Free Mississauga is $15 for one dog and $20 for two or more dogs.

Below is a list of leash-free zones in Mississauga:

Etobicoke Valley Park 1810 Mattawa Ave.

Mississauga SportZone South 715 Matheson Blvd. E.

Lakeside Park 2268 Lakeshore Rd. W.

Jack Darling Memorial Park 1180 Lakeshore Rd. W.

Garnetwood Park 1996 Rathburn Rd. E.

Totoredaca Park 2715 Meadowvale Blvd.

Quenippenon Meadows 2625 Erin Centre Blvd.

If you take your dog to a leash-free park, the following rules must be followed:

·         Dogs must be kept on a leash until they’re inside the leash-free zones

·         Owners are responsible for supervising and cleaning up after their pets

·         Pit bulls are required to wear a leash and muzzle while visiting leash-free areas as per Provincial regulations
