This is a very special time of year in Niagara-on-the-Lake, as historic Queen Street is transformed into a winter wonderland and the town comes together for the Annual Icewine celebration.

The Original Icewine Festival was established 24 years ago in Niagara-on-the-Lake and each year it offers visitors a unique icewine-centric experience – from the charming outdoor Icewine Village where visitors can sample delicious icewines from over 20 members of Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, to icewine-inspired chef pairings, amazing galas and more. So instead of a tropical escape, plan a getaway to charming Niagara-on-the-Lake during this magical time of year and embrace all that winter has to offer. Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Icewine, this precious liquid that has put Niagara-on-the-Lake on the International wine map years ago and continues to garner world attention and win numerous awards.

Below are details of the events taking place in Niagara-on-the-Lake during the last two weekends in January.

Sparkle and Ice Gala Friday, January 18, 2019 • 8 to 11 pm • Tickets $95 (+ HST) Purchase tickets

The Sparkle and Ice Gala is the official kickoff to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival! It’s a celebration with Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewinemakers and their VQA wines paired with Icewine-inspired culinary creations from the Signature Kitchen Chefs in the exquisite setting of the Royal Cambridge at the Prince of Wales Hotel. The evening ends with a fireworks display and icewine toast in the outdoor Icewine Village.

The renowned Signature Kitchen Chefs will tempt your palate with savoury and sweet Icewine-inspired pairings. As you enjoy your delicious icewine and food samples, admire the stunning ice sculptures – they are the perfect backdrop for your pictures. And when it's time to warm up, pop into one of the Heritage District's welcoming Landmark Shops.

Flash and Panache: Icewine Cocktail Competition (Icewine Village)

Shaken, stirred, muddled and mixed. When Niagara-on-the-Lake’s mixologists include Icewine into their cocktail repertoire, exciting things happen. Only one person will take away the top honours, but sample each amazing icewine cocktail and judge for yourself. This event has become a highlight of our festival – don’t miss this party!

White on Ice Dinner Friday, January 25, 2019 • 7 to 10 pm • $100 (+HST) Purchase tickets

Celebrate Icewine at an amazing dinner in the historic Courthouse on Queen Street. The evening begins with an outdoor reception in the Queen Street Icewine Village under the winter sky followed by an outstanding meal inside the grand, century-old Courthouse ballroom. The dinner will feature premium VQA wines paired with mouth-watering cuisine from the Signature Kitchen Chefs, live musical entertainment and dancing. The evening will conclude with an icewine toast under the stars.
