Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - Are there any charitable drives the City is hosting that I can participate in?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about charitable holiday drives.

With the holiday season here, are there any charitable drives the City is hosting that I can participate in?

Yes! Here are two initiatives residents can participate in this season.

Salvation Army Toy Drive
Those interested in participating in the Salvation Army Toy Drive can drop off new, unwrapped toy donations at Mississauga Civic Centre or a local fire station in the boxes provided on site. Toys will be accepted at Mississauga Civic Centre until December 19, 2019 and toys are accepted at fire stations year-round.

Put a Sock on it ‘Sauga

Did you know that socks are the most requested item at shelters and the least donated? Put a Sock on it ‘Sauga is one small but effective way to help the local homeless community. This sock drive is coordinated with the Mississauga Library’s Open Window Hub program helping the city’s homeless and at-risk youth and adults.

Residents can bring donations of new socks, mittens, gloves and hats to any of Mississauga Library’s 18 locations until February 29, 2020.

Questions? Please call 3-1-1 (or 905-615-4311 outside City limits) from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

If you’ve got a question about the City, we want to hear from you!
