In conversation with Mississauga’s Junia T, winner of the 2020 Mississauga Music Award for Producer of The Year.
Describe what you do musically.
I am a producer and a vibes creator. I specialize in setting the tone for creation with the intention of getting the best out an artist.
What inspired you to start creating music?
What inspired me to do music was watching my father play drums and the wide variety of music I’d hear at home.
What does winning the Mississauga Music award for Producer Of The Year mean to you?
Winning this hometown award means a lot to me. When you’ve travelled far and wide in pursuit of what you love and come home to your home city recognizing you’re hard work is truly something special. From the Masonic Lodge to Celebration Square to this. It really feels good.
What's been your biggest musical obstacle and how did you overcome it?
My biggest obstacle was the doubt I let live in my head. It took a bunch of trial and error plus supporting to keep me grounded and going towards the goal.
What advice do you have for up and coming musicians/artists?
Who you spend most of your time with plays a big role in your growth. Have a solid community of great thinkers and people who enjoy doing the impossible. A team is essential.
What plans do you have for 2021?
Doing my best to be present one day at a time :)
