Learn about The Mississauga Food Bank's Home Delivery Service "Food Bank 2 Home"

Launched in October 2019, the Mississauga Food Bank’s new “Food Bank 2 Home” program delivers food to home-bound seniors, those living with physical disabilities or those facing mobility-related challenges that prevent them from accessing their neighbourhood food bank.
Simply put, their goal is to bring healthy food directly to homebound neighbours.

The program aims to provide at least 7 days of food per delivery.
Each delivery incorporates vegetables and fruits, protein, and grain products.
These home deliveries are prepared according to client choice and accommodate any dietary restrictions, to the best of the Mississauga Food Banks’s ability.

Who can receive home delivery?

If you are a Mississauga resident, this program may be available to you if you meet one of the following requirements:

You are 65+ years old
You have a physical disability that keeps you from accessing a local food bank
You have a long term illness that keeps you from accessing a local food bank
You are a single, new or expecting mother who is home-bound
You do not live with a household member who is able to visit a food bank on your behalf

What food is included in a delivery?

Volunteers will ‘shop’ in our warehouse on behalf of the individual, based on their dietary needs, then bring the groceries to their home.

Each monthly delivery will provide approximately 7 days of food, which will include:

Fruits and Vegetables (Seasonal fresh produce, canned fruit/veg)

Protein (Frozen meat, eggs, canned beans/meat)

Grains (Rice, oats, flour , pasta)

This program is volunteer-run and so far, they have nearly 40 clients registered, with a certainty of more in the near future as word spreads about this community initiative.
There’s a need for volunteer drivers across the city and especially in Malton.
