Important Mississauga Waste Collection Updates in response to COVID-19

As of April 20, residents will be allowed to set out a maximum of two extra garbage bags at the curb for pick-up as part of their bi-weekly garbage collection. Garbage bag tags will not be required. If residents have already purchased bag tags, they are advised to hold on to the tags to use after the Region’s emergency declaration has ended or until notified.

Continuing the temporary suspension of bulky item collection

Bulky items that do not fit into garbage bins or bags will not be collected at the curb or accepted at Community Recycling Centres.
Bulky items are difficult for a single person to collect and require multiple touch points.
As such, this temporary suspension will continue in order to avoid unnecessary manual collection and protect the health of our essential workers. If residents are spring cleaning, we ask them to hold onto these items until the end of the emergency when collection/donation can be facilitated.

No dumping of charitable clothing/textile donation drop-off bins

Please refrain from dropping/dumping any donations off at textile and clothing bins. They are not being serviced by charitable organizations at this time. Please hold on to any goods for future drop off.

Waiving drop-off fees at Peel Community Recycling Centres

Effective Wednesday April 15, 2020 all drop-off fees for services currently offered to residents and small businesses at Peel’s Community Recycling Centres will be waived.
This includes waiving fees for material such as garbage, yard waste, renovation and construction waste
The receipt of tires, electronic waste, reusable goods, white goods (i.e. large appliances) and bulky items will remain suspended at the CRCs.

As the Region of Peel works through the COVID-19 pandemic, staff continue to monitor how it may impact waste services and the collection process in Peel.
