Fun Facts about Canada's CN Tower
/
Rising 1,815 feet high in the sky, or over 550 meters, the CN Tower is arguably the most famous landmark in Ontario and Canada for that matter.
Standing just a quarter mile distance from the shores of Lake Ontario in the heart of Toronto, the CN Tower has been the subject of thousands of photographs and is recognized around the world.
Why is it so popular?
Standing proud on Toronto’s skyline, the CN Tower is one of the most recognizable icons in Canada, and is so famous that in 2018 Uber ranked it third in the most popular travel destinations, just after Empire State Building and One World Trade Center (or Freedom Tower).
Instagram hashtags rank it as the most popular in the country, starring in most photos in Toronto and being the 11th worldwide in 2017. The tower is fifth in North America in this list. As for today, there are over 1.3 million hashtags on Instagram.
And that is understandable, given that there are almost 2 million tourists every year.
Here are the top 5 features they love to see and try at the CN Tower:
5. The glass-floor elevator. It is the highest glass-floor elevator in the world, taking visitors at a height of 346 meters from the starting point. The glass panels were installed in 2008.
4. The Glass Floor in the visiting area. Looking down through the glass floor from 342 meters away up is quite impressive. And the glass is solid as a rock – it can withstand the weight of 14 hippos, or elephants, depending on who you ask. It opened to the public in 1994.
3. The stunning view. Just take a look from the indoor SkyPod and the outdoor observatory deck for a 360-degrees view tens of miles away. That is just breathtaking, especially at night.
2. The EdgeWalk. The visitors are tethered to an overhead rail system and can walk on the roof of the main pod in open air, at an elevation of 356 meters. It opened to the public in 2011 and it is the highest in the world.
1. Dining at the 360 Restaurant. Having dinner at over 350 meters above the ground and looking at the city or at the Ontario Lake is just priceless. The restaurant rotates and completes a revolution each 72 minutes. It is the highest restaurant and the highest wine cellar in the world.

More than being a hotel casino, this construction is famous for the spectacular midnight 360-degree views of the city from the observation deck.
