Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - How soon can I put a picnic table in front of my restaurant and will there be design guidelines in place?
/Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about temporary patios.
How soon can I put a picnic table in front of my restaurant and will there be design guidelines in place?
Restaurants with a valid 2020 business license are permitted to temporarily expand outdoor seating and dining areas, provided they comply with City requirements and meet COVID-19 safety guidelines for patrons and staff.
For temporary patios on public lands:
· You need a permit to install a temporary patio on a municipal road or a municipal parking lot.
· More details and how to apply
For temporary patios on private lands:
· No permit is required for temporary patios on private lands. However, restaurants should get permission from the property owner or property manager before installing a patio.
· Your patio must adhere to design requirements and comply with the zoning regulations for temporary patios.
If you need more information or have questions about temporary patio permits, email temporarypatio@mississauga.ca or call 905-615-3200 ext.5593 or 8581.
