Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - I live in a condo; are there ways that I can garden in Mississauga?
/Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about community gardens.
I live in a condo; are there ways that I can garden in Mississauga?
Indoor/balcony container gardening is a great option for those living in condos and small spaces. You can also participate in the City of Mississauga’s community gardens, which are shared spaces to grow food. Gardening helps to encourage healthy, active living and to help green the city.
The City supports community gardens through a partnership with Ecosource. There are nine public community gardens in Mississauga parks. They are scheduled to reopen on May 1, 2021 to registered garden members only.
You can sign up to become a member gardening through Ecosource. Please note, there may be waiting lists at some of the community gardens. As a member gardener you will:
Get an individual plot
Be able to grow food with your own seeds and plants
Help take care of communal areas
For more information you can reach out to communitygardens@ecosource.ca or by calling 905-274-6222 ext. 303. You can also find more information here.
If you’ve got a question about the City, we want to hear from you!
Please send your questions to info@modernmississauga.com with “Ask the City” in the subject line.
