1. When did you specifically become more aware of the indirect society pressure to succeed and fit in a world of physical values?
It was during my third year of University studying in a highly competitive fashion program. Everything needed to be and look perfect in the fashion industry. That's when I realized I wanted to shake things up for others and inspire them to connect with joy, celebrate humanity and the beauty of imperfections.

2. How long did it take from your first concept of Scoria to selling the first cork yoga mat?
One year and a half. For Scoria, the brand culture was born first- then the product.

3. What's the most impactful lesson you've learned as an entrepreneur?
Don't compare yourself to others. Stay focused on your own brand, impact, and customers, and new and fresh ideas will naturally happen.

4. Is there anything you'd change in your journey?
I wouldn't change anything. Many times I took a difficult road over a more effective one; but in taking the difficult road I ended up learning really big lessons and even sometimes getting better views.

5. What keeps you up at night?
Most times I sleep like a baby, but the nights that I am wide awake I am awake because of new ideas storming my head. Some ideas sadly never end up in the tangible world, but I do lose sleep over them.

6. What drives you?
Connecting with others and community. Life is too short to not express ourselves and fully experience its beauty, so seeing joy in others is my biggest drive. I hope our products put a smile on many people's faces and continue to inspire them every time they step on their mat.

7. What succinct advice do you have for other entrepreneurs?
I love this saying: "rest, but don't quit". So, keep going and when you're on the verge of a breakdown, take a mini vacation. That could look like exploring somewhere new or taking a long bath.

8. How would you describe Scoria to a stranger using six or less words?
Creative yoga gear that cares

9. What's next for you?
Expanding Scoria's product line will be next for the company. And for myself, if I'm honest, I'm not exactly sure. I tend to act on instincts so I've gotten used to sudden changes.
