Hair is considered one of the most visible communicators of status, privilege, and culture – both today and throughout human history.

From July 28 until September 3, the Museums of Mississauga will welcome visitors for pre-booked tours of The Lengths We Go: Reflections on Hair Exhibition.

The exhibition, which can be found at Bradley Museum, explores stories of hair in North America from the 1900s to the present and reflects on the different ways that hair is used to express oneself. This exhibition combs through the history of hair and how society, culture and identity have been shaped by it. Featuring discussions of iconic hairstyles and personal stories from the Mississauga community, this exhibition asks the question: what does hair mean to you?

In-person tours are booked by appointment via Eventbrite – registration is required. Tours are available Wednesday to Friday from noon to 4 p.m. Please note: one ticket is valid for up to five people.

During the tour, physical distancing measures will be in place and visitors must wear a mask while inside the Anchorage at the Bradley Museum.

The Museums of Mississauga, in partnership with the University of Toronto’s Master of Museum Studies Program, are hosting the exhibition virtually as well, for those who would rather enjoy from home.

Residents can also check out these additional resources and activities:

1.    A Guide for Families Family friendly activities that relate to the exhibition.
