Learn About Mississauga Dance-Theatre Company Frog in Hand's Performance of "Noir"
/Mississauga dance-theatre company, Frog in Hand, have partnered with Stonehooker Brewing Company to bring to life their newest immersive, site-specific dance production, Noir. Putting a supernatural spin on a timeless classic, Noir is already thrilling audiences.
Founder Colleen Snell has been working tirelessly to bring arts back to the Mississauga area after the pandemic, and saw that the struggles the arts were experiencing aligned closely with those of the hospitality industry. When Snell approached the Stonehooker Brewing Company earlier this year, she pitched them a skill-exchange idea: To have Frog in Hand perform its newest site-specific and immersive dance show in Stonehooker's backspace, filling the area with the fresh and exciting energy that comes from a show that thematically pulls on classic film noir tropes, while pushing foot traffic and bringing business to the brewery itself through the show's audience.
The agreement was made, and the generosity that the Stonehooker Brewing Company has shown Frog in Hand has allowed for an unlikely but exciting pairing to be brought to Mississauga audiences. With 12 performances in total, this triple-cast show has given Snell and the entire Frog in Hand team the chance to give up-and-coming dancers in the 2023 Summer Company, as well as guest artists a chance to dazzle local audiences. This proactive partnership has not only created an opportunity for local performers to showcase their talents again, but has pushed local business back into the Stonehooker Brewing Company.
