Modern Motoring - 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid First Drive

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

Mazda picked the latter by teaming up with Toyota for their inaugural hybrid offering, being the 2025 CX-50.

Using Toyota's 4th generation hybrid system found in the wildly popular RAV4, the CX-50's power specs are 219 horsepower through a 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid engine with an E-CVT and E-all-wheel drive standard in Canada.

Average fuel consumption is 6.2 L/100 km (37.9 MPG), good for nearly 900 km per full tank of fuel, or 551 miles.

Would you take this over the other hybrid compact crossovers, including the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and Ford Escape?
