Modern Dining - Mishree Cocktails and Cuisine
/"Step into our enchanting oasis, where the tantalizing aroma of spices greets you like a warm embrace." That’s a pretty strong opening line on the menu and it sets the stage for a unique dining experience in Mississauga, specifically in Heartland at Mavis and Brittania.
Opening their customized hand-made brass doors in early 2024 is Mishree Cocktails and Cuisine. This is more than a restaurant that specializes in Indian cuisine; it's an experience that's bespoke to our city.
Number-wise, the cost to build Mishree was over $4 million dollars, it spans 6,500 square-feet and there' seating for up to 250 and it's a one-of-a-kind dining option in Mississauga.
There's a wrap around patio for those days where outdoor dining is desired along with two semi-private dining spaces. seating 35 and 45 for special occasions and events.
Once inside, the decor is certainly unique, with flowers hung from the ceiling, hand-carved marble tables with detailed inlays via semi-precious stones, customized light fixtures, carefully crafted wallpaper, velvet seating and wonderfully crafted woodwork enveloping the dining room.
The menu is cleanly presented and once opened, presents you with over100 dishes.
Yes, there are a plethora of Indian cuisine options and the choices span India’s many regional and traditional cuisines from North Indian street food, Thai curries, popular Chinese inspired dishes and Hakka fusion options.
Some of the dishes we experienced included Prawns Salt & Pepper, Shahi Tukda, Rara Chicken, Nalli Nihari, Lamb Chops, Garlic Naan and the Mishree Tikki Sampler.
The saying that diners "eat with their eyes first" rings true here as each dish from the extravagant down to a simple yet carefully decorated bowl of rice was visually exciting.
Mishree wants to, and is proving to be, more than a restaurant to enjoy food; it's an experience, an atmosphere, a heightened sensory destination from all aspects.
Each dish is made to order and the menu states that as such, some dishes can take up to 45 minutes to be served, which shouldn't affect any diners. The clientele they're targeting appreciates the art of food, its creation, the delicate hands of the chefs and are willing to invest time and money for an elevated culinary journey.
Equally impressive is their drink menu, with carefully curated cocktails that dazzle the eyes and taste buds.
In the late evenings, a nightlife vibe billows within the walls and Mishree sees live entertainment in a lounge style atmosphere paired with a premium audio system. Plus, on select nights, there's a DJ to fill the speakers and space.
“At the core of Mishree, is the unique blend of bold Indian flavours that will bring a sense of adventure to the palette, where each cocktail is a masterpiece of mixology, and every sip is a journey celebrating the beauty of nature” is cited by Mishree in a statement.
Owner Shraey Gulati confidently says “we are challenging creativity and the fusion between cuisine and cocktails. Our vision is to bring to life a multi-sensory experience that’s unlike any other restaurant in Mississauga.”
Based on my recent visit, he's done just that.
