1. Why are you running for Councillor of Ward 5?
I have put my name forward for Councillor previously (2014, 2018 & 2022) and finished runner up each time. I care about Mississauga Ward 5 and can help the community reach our full potential. Over the past 30 years, I have lived in this community, raised a family, and operated a successful business in the telecom sector contributing to the vibrancy of Mississauga.  I have heard from residents and businesses about their priorities and how the issues are not being addressed. Through my extensive business and volunteer service experience, I have a proven track record of collaborating with stakeholders to organize successful fundraisers for local causes and getting things done.

2. What are your top 3 campaign priorities and why?
AFFORDABILITY:  Mississauga Ward 5 Residents and Businesses are hurting and are struggling to survive. People are finding it difficult to make ends meet and deciding whether to pay rent or buy groceries. With the high cost of living, families feel helpless and there appears to be no help in sight.  In my role as Vice-President at the local Mississauga food bank (Eden Food For Change), I have witnessed first-hand how everyday people are negatively impacted by food insecurity, and dependency on food banks has increased exponentially. This crisis can only be solved in collaboration with governments, service organizations, community groups, first responders, media, local artists, businesses, and concerned citizens. I have the skills, experience, and relationships connecting people and organizing successful community initiatives. Working together, we can lift up our people and build a stronger community.

CRIME:  Mississauga Ward 5 residents and businesses are sick and tired of having their vehicles stolen from their driveways and criminals are now resorting to violent carjacking. People are afraid of their homes being broken into and small businesses are going bankrupt due to rampant shoplifting. Mississauga is becoming Gotham City, and we need to get tough on crime. In my role as Chair at Peel Crime Stoppers, I have established trusted relationships with First Responders and Elected Officials from all levels of Government. Working together, we will clean up our city and build a safer community.

3. How do you plan to actively involve and include residents in community decisions?
I have developed valuable customer service skills over the past 30 years through my business and volunteer service experience serving the Mississauga community. Maintaining a strong presence and listening to Mississauga Ward 5 constituents will allow me to understand the local issues and prioritize short-term and long-term goals.

4. How will you be actively supporting our local businesses if elected?
Small businesses are the economic engine of our local economy. If businesses succeed, then the community thrives. Business owners tell me they struggle with obtaining building permits and zoning approvals. I will work with city staff to simplify the application process and speed up response times. Working together, we will make it easy for businesses to choose Mississauga Ward 5 as their home and create valuable jobs in the community.

5. What does Ward 5 currently excel at?
Mississauga Ward 5 home to the busiest and most economically active airport zone in Canada and Pearson International Airport (YYZ) the entry point for many newcomers and visitors arriving from around the world. Missisauga Ward 5 has an opportunity to host events showcasing our vibrant cultural groups, service organizations, businesses, sports organizations, and local artists. Working together, we can help the Mississauga Ward 5 community reach our full potential.
